About the news project

The FNMA News Initiative is a news journalism training project for First Nations  people. The training is conducted over 6 months, involving weekly online MasterClasses and a week-long intensive practical training session conducted at Batchelor Institute.

The Project is kindly funded by the “Amplifying Indigenous News ARC Linkage Project”, University of Canberra, the Google News Lab, Meta (Walkley) and NIAA.

Reece Lamshed is the Project Manager.

The First Nations Media Australia (FNMA) is the peak body for First Nations not-for-profit broadcasting, media and communications organisations. 

The FNMA is located in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, with members and the Board of Directors located across Australia.
